Bambury Leaves After 3+ Years
After being at the helm of the 83rd Precinct for over three years, Deputy Inspector John Bambury has been reassigned to command the NYPD's Field Intelligence Division, it was announced. (file photo) Bushwick's 83rd Precinct lost its commanding officer as Deputy Inspector John Bambury has been reassigned within the NYPD, it was announced on Monday, June 30.
Bambury, who had been at the helm of the force for nearly three years, has been named commanding officer of the NYPD's Field Intelligence Bureau.
As of press time, a replacement has yet to be named. Law enforcement sources said a new commanding officer may not be appointed until after the Fourth of July holiday.
In the meantime, it was noted, the 83rd Precinct's executive officer, Capt. John Hart, will serve as the interim commanding officer.
