DEATH NOTICES

REINHOLD (Lefty) SCHUKAT of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of Glendale, died on June 22, 2008 at the age of 50. A native of Germany he was the beloved husband of Nancy, loving son of Siegfried and Martha, dear brother of Angelika Sadowski, Evelyn Agnoli, Freddy and Dietmar Schukat; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was an employee of Lufthansa Airlines for 24 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 66- 14 Central Avenue, Glendale.

 
+++ MARY ELLEN KUNKEL of Glendale died at the age of 78. She was the widow of the late Henry Otto, devoted mother of William, Karen, Stephanie, Kenneth, Stuart and Joellen; also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Matthias Church followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of the Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale.

+++ JEANNE A. KELAHER of Ridgewood died on June 29, 2008 at the age of 83. She worked as an executive secretary until her retirement. Memorial gifts can be made in her name to the American Heart Association Memorial Program. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, New Jersey.

+++ CHRISTOPHER F. LOGERFO died on July 6, 2008 at the age of 65. He was the husband of the late Larayne, devoted father of Christopher Jr., father-in-law of Patricia, dear brother of Thomas, Mary, Grace and Cecilia; also survived by nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Stanislaus Church followed by interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ LORRAINE M. FAVATA died on June 28, 2008 at the age of 75. She was the dear aunt of Robert Menist; also survived by many friends. Services were held at the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village followed by interment in Lutheran/All Faiths Cemetery.

+++ CHARLES A. SAMUELS died on July 1, 3008 at the age of 62. He was the dear brother of Robert, Henry and June Samuels and Grace Burton and Joanne Millar. Memorial Service was held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ NELSON LESLIE died on July 1, 2008 at the age of 68, dear brother of Stanley Leslie, Yvonne Moir, Vicar Noel Leslie and Patricia Craft; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Matthias Church followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory.

+++ ANNA HANZICH died on July 4, 2008 at the age of 94. She was the devoted mother of Vincent and Donald; also survived by two grandchildren. Cremation was in Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ RITA QUINTAS of Astoria died on July 1, 2008 at the age of 86. A native of Colombia, she was the widow of the late Prudencio, devoted mother of Rita Quintas Valente and Maria Quintas, dear sister of Georgina Malaver, Lenore Dominguez and George Cama; also survived by two grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph's Church followed by interment in St. Raymond's Cemetery under the direction of the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood.

+++ CARL BONAFEDE of Ridgewood died on July 5, 2008 at the age of 57. A native of Brooklyn, he was the beloved husband of Francine, devoted father of Toni Ann Volkman and Vincent Bonafede, dear brother of Virginia Alastro and Bernadette Tamboni; also survived by four grandchildren. Services were held at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory.

+++ HYMAN ABOFSKY of Ridgewood died on June 9, 2008 at the age of 87. A native of Brazil, he was the husband of the late Frances. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Religious services were held at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood officiated by Rabbi Stephen Dresner followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery.

+++ JOSEPHINE FORLENZA of Ridgewood died on June 24, 2008 at the age of 92. A native of Ridgewood, she was the beloved wife of Victor, devoted mother of Joseph, Rosemary and Victor, Jr.; also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ridgewood Property Owners and Civic Association, Citizens for a Better Ridgewood Association and the Stockholm Street Block Association. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Aloysius Church followed by interment in Linden Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Seneca Chapels, 494 Seneca Avenue, Ridgewood.
