Perps Led Cops On Pursuit
Two armed bandits who allegedly took cash from a Richmond Hill bodega at gunpoint during a recent stickup were reportedly caught by police after leading officers on a pursuit through local streets. The suspects were identified by police as Jose Rodriguez, 24, of Elderts Lane in Ozone Park and Ellerbe Da Vaughn, 21, of Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan. Law enforcement sources said the robbery occurred at around 6:45 p.m. on Monday night, June 23 at the Quick Stop mini mart at 130-02 Atlantic Ave. According to information obtained by police, the two suspects allegedly entered the convenience store and displayed firearms before removing an undetermined amount of cash from the register. No shots were fired and no one was injured, police said. Reportedly, the perpetrators were observed by members of the 102nd Precinct Detective Squad shortly after exiting the store. Police said the pair then led the detectives on a pursuit through local streets. Members of the 102nd Precinct and other NYPD bureaus- including the Aviation, K-9 and Emergency Services units- joined in the pursuit of the suspects, who were apprehended a short time later. Rodriguez and Da Vaughn were both charged with robbery, law enforcement sources said.
