Stores Up In Smoke On Avenue


Two stores along Grand Avenue in East Williamsburg and several apartments above them were damaged in a one-alarm fire on Sunday morning, Oct. 26, it was reported. Fire Department sourcess aid the blaze broke out at around 10:15 a.m. inside the shops on Grand Avenue near Bushwick Avenue. Members of Engine companies 206, 21, 221, 229 and 230; Ladder companies 104, 108, 119, 124 and 146; Squad Company 252; Rescue 2; and Battalions 28 and 35 responded to the scene under the direction of Division 14 and along with the 90th Precinct and EMS units. One firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the flames and was transported to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for treatment, an FDNY spokesperson said.
