DEATH NOTICES

PATRICIA KING of Maspeth died on October 27, 2008 at the age of 95. She was the widow of the late John, devoted stepmother of Patricia Chernack and Susan Watts; also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Maspeth United Methodist Church. Services will be held today, October 30, 2008 at the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

+++ HAROLD C. HOCKNELL of Glendale died on October 27, 2008 at the age of 73. A native of Brooklyn, he was the devoted father of Maureen Smaldone, Susan Morley, Mary Brenner, Joseph, Artie, Patrick, and the late Kevin (all Kenniff), Daniel, Eleanor, John, William, Virginia, Jenifer, Kim and the late Harold (all Hocknell) and the late Vivian Augio, dear brother of Arlene McMahon; also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were held at the George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Avenue, Glendale followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory. JEANETTE E. KORNICHUK (nee Vadax) of Glendale died on October 25, 2008 at the age of 85. A native of Brooklyn, she was the beloved wife of Walter, dear sister of Ann Faraci and the late Helen Divone and Peter Vadax; also survived by nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Pancras Church followed by interment in Lutheran/All Faiths Cemetery under the direction of the George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Avenue, Glendale.

+++ CHARLES J. BUTT of Glendale died on October 19, 2008 at the age of 80. He was the devoted father of Dorothy Smith, dear grandfather of Billy Alderman. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Matthias Church followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale.

+++ GRACE WALDVOGEL of Clinton, Connecticut died on October 24, 2008 at the age of 56. A native of Brooklyn, she was the dear sister of Reverend Edwin J. Waldvogel and Edith Blumhofer; also survived by nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Ridgewood Pentecostal Church officiated by Reverend Edwin Waldvogel followed by interment in Cypress Hills Cemetery under the direction of the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood.

+++ MLADEN STOJANOVIC of Ridgewood died on October 22, 2008 at the age of 84. A native of Leskovac, Yugoslavia, he was the beloved husband of Divna, devoted father of Jovica Stojanovic and Nevena Stepanovic, dear brother of Srbin; also survived by two grandchildren. Services were held at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church officiated by Reverend Father Djokan Majstorovic followed by interment in Manojlovce Cemetery, Manojlovce, Serbia under the direction of the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood.

+++ FRANK GENTILE of Ridgewood died on October 19, 2008 at the age of 67. A native of Brooklyn, he was the beloved husband of Dorothy, devoted father of Dawn Gentile, dear brother of Lisa Kusek. +++ ELEANOR SPANG of Ridgewood died on October 23, 2008 at the age of 49. A native of Ridgewood, she was the loving daughter of Marie Spang and the late Thomas, dear sister of Jean Spang. Interment was in Cypress Hills Cemetery under the direction of the Peter J. Geis Funeral Home, 57-34 Catalpa Avenue, Ridgewood.
