Man Slain During Kew Gdns. Fight

Seek Killer Who Stabbed Victim

Angry words exchanged between two men along a Kew Gardens street reportedly turned violent when one of the brawlers fatally stabbed the other in the chest during the dispute on Sunday night, Nov. 9, police reported.

At press time, the identity of the 41-year-old male victim was withheld by police pending family notification.

Authorities said the suspect in the homicide, described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, remains at large at press time.

Law enforcement sources said the incident took place at around 7:50 p.m. Sunday night in front of a location on Metropolitan Avenue between Lefferts Boulevard and 118th Street.

According to information by police, the 41-year-old male became embroiled in a dispute with the perpetrator.

During the argument, it was noted, the suspect used an unknown object to stab the male once in the chest. After puncturing the victim, police said, the suspect fled from the scene in an unknown direction.

Members of the 102nd Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units. The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the incident, it was noted, various police units canvassed the area in search of the suspect. Despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the 102nd Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
