Something Special At St. Aloysius
     Something Special At St. Aloysius Students at Ridgewood's St. Aloysius School were dressed for the occasion as the school celebrated Halloween with the annual party held in the cafeteria. The students enjoyed Halloween cupcakes, cookies and ice cream, and all went home with a goodie bag.

     Walking To Boost School's Technology Students and faculty of Resurrection Ascension School in Rego Park took part in a walk-a-thon event on Thursday, Nov. 6. As noted, the fund-raiser generated funds to help equip the school with SmartBoards, interactive whitebooards that have been described as the blackboards of the 21st century.

     Celebrating Dutch Days In Ridgewood As part of the Five Dutch Days series of events in the city's five boroughs, the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society and the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House hosted "A Dutch Tableau" with resident artist Arthur Kirmss (seated at center, wearing hat) last Friday evening, Nov. 14. Girl Scouts Were Good Skates
     Girl Scouts Were Good Skates Girl Scouts from the South West Queens Service Unit recently combined a night of fun with doing good as they enjoyed a skating event that saw the donation of socks to benefit residents at the Salvation Army's Borden Avenue Veterans Shelter in Long Island City. Over 180 girls and their leaders donated more than 200 pairs of new socks as part of this annual event.      Forty Years Later For M.C. Reunion Members of the Class of 1968 at Mater Christi Diocesan High School recently returned to the school building on Crescent Street in Astoria, now known as St. John's Preparatory School, for a multi-class reunion. New Centenarian
     Martha Petschauer, a Ridgewood resident for over 50 years, celebrated her 100th birthday on Nov. 11. She was married to the late John Petschauer and is the mother of two sons, Erwin and the late John Petschauer. The new centenarian has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A party in her honor was held on Nov. 8 at the Chalet Alpina in Forest Hills.

Youngsters' Experience Was All 'Green'
     Youngsters' Experience Was All 'Green' Beautifying the grounds of the Hope Gardens Community Center was the goal of more than 100 volunteers who turned out for last Saturday's "The Green Experience" at the Bushwick facility. As noted, those who took part in the effort planted over 1,000 daffodils and other plants at the site located on Central Avenue near Palmetto Street. Young members were also treated to a catered lunch as well as contests with an environmental theme and a performance by Precise, a Bushwick-born hip-hop artist.
