Maspeth Factory Is Hit By Flames
     Firefighters are shown battling a one-alarm fire that broke out inside this commercial building on 55th Street between Grand and Flushing avenues in Maspeth at around 6:35 a.m. Tuesday morning, Dec. 2. Dead Man Floating In Water Near H. Beach Park
He Was Recently Reported Missing
      Police investigated the death of a man who was discovered by residents floating in waters off of Hamilton Beach Park in Howard Beach on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 27, it was reported. He was later identified by law enforcement sources as Peter Sutherland, 65, who had been recently reported missing to the 102nd Precinct.

     Over 500 meals were served as the the Kiwanis Club of Glendale held its 23rd Annual Pancake Breakfast last Sunday, Nov. 30, at St. Pancras School in Glendale. Laundromat Damaged By Flames
     Firefighters were on the scene of a one-alarm fire that broke out inside a laundromat in Ridgewood last Sunday morning, Nov. 23, it was reported. According to FDNY sources, the incident occurred at around 10:10 a.m. with flames breaking out inside ducts at the laundry facility on Forest Avenue near 68th Road. Members of Engine companies 271, 286 and 291; Ladder companies 135 and 140 and Battalion 28 responded to the scene and brought the fire under control at around 10:30 a.m., a Fire Department spokesperson said. Corona Cellar Burned In Blaze
     Flames damaged the basement of this Corona home during a one-alarm fire last Friday afternoon, Nov. 28, FDNY sources said. Reportedly, the blaze broke out at around 1:20 p.m. at the home located near the intersection of 99th Street and 42nd Avenue. Members of Engine companies 287, 289, 316 and 324; Ladder companies 129, 138 and 154; Squad Company 288; and Battalions 9 and 46, under the direction of Division 14, responded to the scene along with officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units. Civic Thanks Residents With Holiday Giveaway
     Looking to spread Thanksgiving cheer, members of the Stephen Street Neighborhood Association gave away baskets of food to five lucky families in the Ridgewood area last Sunday, Nov. 23. As noted, the families were chosen at random by the civic group in an effort to bring people in the neighborhood together. Woman Injured In Brooklyn Blaze
     One woman was hospitalized with injuries suffered after a one-alarm fire broke out inside her Brooklyn home last Sunday evening, Nov. 23, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the blaze started at around 6:35 p.m. in the rear of the second floor of a home on Hart Street near Throop Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant. On the scene were members of Engine companies 214, 216, 217, 230 and 235; Ladder companies 102, 108, 111 and 119; Squad Company 252; Rescue 2; and Battalions 35 and 57, under the direction of Division 11, and officers from the 79th Precinct and EMS units. The woman's injuries were not considered life-threatening, an FDNY spokesperson said. Flames Hit Forest Hills Apt. Building
     Nobody was reportedly injured after a fire broke out on the second floor of a sevenstory apartment building in Forest Hills last Monday afternoon, Nov. 24. Fire Department sources said the incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m. at the sevenstory structure near the intersection of 67th Drive and Yellowstone Boulevard. Members of Engine companies 287, 289, 305 and 324; Ladder companies 136, 138 and 151; Squad Company 288; Rescue 4; and Battalions 46 and 52 responded to the scene under the direction of Division 14. Officers from the 112th Precinct and EMS units also provided assistance. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control using one hose line, a Fire Department source said.
