Seek Nominations For State History Teacher Of The Year
2009 Award For NYS Elementary Teachers
      The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is seeking nominations for the annual New York History Teacher of the Year Award, it was announced on Thursday, Feb. 12. The winner will receive a $1,000 honorarium and will be placed in the running for the National History Teacher of the Year award to be selected this fall.

Local Undergrads Make Dean's Lists
      Numerous colleges within the State University of New York (SUNY) and other institutions of higher learning have announced the names of local students who have achieved their respective dean's lists during the fall semester. To be on the SUNY list, students must attain a grade point average of 3.4 (except where noted) or better while taking at least 12 credit hours.

      In Glendale, Eugene Dolphin and Abiramy Logeswaran faced off in an epic final round at the Sacred Heart School Junior High Math Bee. After much back and forth, Logeswaran (at right) finally triumphed; Dolphin (at left) finished second.
