Taking a taxi ride proved deadly for a man who suffered fatal injuries after the vehicle lost control and crashed into a flatbed truck in Long Island City on Tuesday morning, June 23, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the man's wife and the cab driver were hospitalized with serious injuries in the collision that took place along the eastbound service road of the Long Island Expressway near Greenpoint Avenue at around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from Engine companies 259, 292 and 325; Ladder companies 128 and 163; Rescue 4; Squad Co. 288 and Battalion 45 responded to the scene along with the 108th Precinct, the NYPD Emergency Services Unit and EMS units.
