Car Kills Woman Crossing Blvd.

(photo: Joseph Epstein) Walking across Woodhaven Boulevard proved to be a deadly decision for a 32-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a car traveling along the roadway in Rego Park early on Tuesday morning, Sept. 29, police reported.

The identity of the victim was not disclosed by police as of press time.

According to law enforcement sources, the accident occurred at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday along the north bound lanes of Woodhaven Boule vard between 62nd Drive and 63rd Avenue.

Reportedly, the victim was cross ing the boulevard when she was hit by a 2000 Mercedes Benz sedan traveling fast along the roadway.

The impact caused the woman to be hurled 40 feet into the air before hitting the pavement, Fire Depart ment sources said. Police said the driver stopped his vehicle and re mained at the location following the incident.

Members of the 112th Precinct responded to the scene along with the NYPD Highway Patrol Unit 3 and EMS units. The woman was pro nounced dead at the scene.

Reportedly, the driver was ques tioned at the location by members of the highway patrol. Police said no criminality is suspected in the case.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the NYPD Ac cident Investigation Squad, law en forcement sources said.
