Founders As H.S. Turned 50
Founders As H.S. Turned 50 Martin Luther High School held its 50th Anniversary Gala last Thursday, Nov. 5, as the Maspeth institution took a moment to look back on its roots and honor some of the people who have helped it thrive throughout the years. Head of School Ben Herbrich (shown at right) presented a Founders’ Award to Rev. Herbert Geisler (at left), who came to Martin Luther as a teacher and administrator in 1960; Herbrich also bestowed a posthumous Founders’ Award honoring school founder, Rev. Dr. Frederick C. Hinz, which he presented to Hinz’ widow Dollie (second from right). Teacher Marlene Lund (second from left) received the school’s Schott in the Arm Award.
