DEATH NOTICES

RAYMOND E. BARTLEY died on December 12, 2009 at the age of 81. He was the devoted father of Raymond K., Glenn and Marlene, and fond grandfather of Brendan, Celina and Daniel. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Religious services were followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ EUGENE J. SMYKOWSKI died on December 11, 2009 at the age of 76. He was the beloved husband of Carol (nee Bonaventura), devoted father of Carol-Jeanne Stock and Cheryl Daniels, father-in-law of Ray, and fond grandfather of Taylor, Cara, Derek, Shane and Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s Church followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ FRANCIS A. CONNOLLY died on December 11, 2009 at the age of 77. He was the beloved husband of Joyce, devoted father of Sharon De- Martin, Dave and the late Kenny, dear brother of Ann Adams, Ed, Bob, Ron, Edith Lagan, Mike and Jimmy, and fond grandfather of Kenny and Samantha. Funeral services were held at Papavero Funeral Home, 72- 27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth, followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery.

+++ JOSEPH R. FERRIS of Middle Village died on December 13, 2009 at the age of 85. A native of Manhattan, he was the husband of the late May A., devoted father of Charlene Rouke, Joseph R. and Janet S. Lang; also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at the George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Avenue, Glendale, followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery. ORELLANA of Ridgewood died on December 12, 2009 at the age of 90. She was the widow of the late Mariano, devoted mother of Gelma Zayas, Marialilia Samayoa, Oscar Aldana, Luis Alberto, Digna Matheakis and AnaRosa Aldano, and dear sister of Rosario Orellano; also survived by 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and eight greatgreat grandchildren. Services were held at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood, followed by interment in Linden Hill Cemetery.

+++ ALBERT HOLMES of Brooklyn died on December 13, 2009 at the age of 71. A native of North Carolina, she was the dear brother of Eva Lee Cullum. Services were held at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood, followed by interment in Forest Green Park.
