DEATH NOTICES MICHAEL CONNELL of Ridgewood died on January 24, 2010. He was the loving son of John and Marie Connell, dear brother of Laurie Ruggiero and Lisa Scardamaglia, and fond uncle of Anthony Ruggiero, Damian Scardamaglia and Nicholas Scardamaglia. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Luke’s Church in Whitestone followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.+++ EDWARD THEIS died on January 22, 2010 at the age of 85. A native of Ridgewood, he was the husband of the late Doris, devoted father of Linda Schantz and Edward, fatherin law of Vicky, dear brother of Arline Collins and Raymond Theis, and fond Puf of Dawn Soares, Brian Schantz and Jason and Nicole Theis; also survived by great-grandchildren Lainey, Zackery, Hailey and Rhianna. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy and the Rheinland, and a member of VFW Post No. 123, the Garity Post, AARP and ROAC Bingo Caller #49. Services were officiated by Rev. Michael Ross followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of the Peter J. Geis Funeral Home, 57-34 Catalpa Avenue, Ridgewood. +++ ERNEST G. She was the widow of the late Michael A., devoted mother of Marie Markowitz and Pasquale Sforza, dear cousin of Marie Lopez and Jean Maresca and fond grandmother of Stephen, Michael, Richard, Karl, John, Laura, Michael and Julia; also survived by great-grandchildren Alyssa, Zachary, Jessica, Samantha, Alec, Nicholas and Gabriella. A native of Lokve, Yugoslavia, he was the beloved husband of Floarea, devoted father of Todor Ardelean and dear brother of Kila, Maria, Ana, Petar, Jon and Gheorghe (all Ardeljan). Services were officiated by Rev. Fr. Victor Runcanu at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood, followed by interment in All Faiths Cemetery. +++ MADELINE A. KUEFNER died on January 27, 2010 at the age of 95. She was the dear aunt of Barbara Velie and William A.
