DEATH NOTICES JOAN CATALANO of Sadsbury Township, Pennsylvania, died on February 12, 2010 at the age of 75. A Brooklyn native, she was the beloved wife of Benjamin L. Catalano, to whom she was married for 54 years; also survived by daughter Patricia, wife of Rick Mandarano of Norristown; son Michael, husband of Beth Ann Catalano of Honey Brook; son John Catalano, residing with Carol Seidel of Exeter Township; grandchildren S.J. Taylor, residing with Stephanie Farnum of Coatesville; Matthew Taylor of Boca Raton, Florida; Christopher Taylor of Norristown; John R. Catalano, Anthony Catalano and Alexa Catalano, all of Bushkill; and great-grandchild Madison Sophia Taylor.Joan’s whole life was dedicated to her three children, six grandchildren and the newest addition, her very first great-grandchild. What joy they gave her, and what wonderful memories she has left them with. They always came first in her life, she could never do enough for them. Family was her life and how proud they are, to call her wife, mom and grandma. She also loved flowers, yellow roses being her favorite, and working in her garden. She enjoyed music all her life, and found peace by the ocean, and watching beautiful sunsets. She will be missed so much, but will always remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She was born in Brooklyn on December 13, 1918 and moved to Maspeth when she was 3 years old. Miss Jourdan lived on 55th Street in Maspeth for 82 years, and in 2004 she moved to Johns Creek, Georgia, to live with her niece Carol T. Jourdan Coniglione. She attended grammar school at St. Aloysius and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Ridgewood, and Grover Cleveland High School, also in Ridgewood. Miss Jourdan was a member of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Rosary Alter Society in Ridgewood. She did secretarial work for Local 580 Architectural & Oriental Iron Workers Union, and retired after 35 years. Miss Jourdan leaves behind her in-law, Edith M. Jourdan; niece Terri Striar and her husband Richard Striar and their daughter Taylor; niece Jerilyn Jourdan Christiano and her husband Peter; great-niece Karen Lynn and her husband Marc Pagnazzi; great-niece Jamie Ann and her husband Chris Weissback and their children, great-great-nephew Christopher and great-great-niece Taylor Weissbach; great-nephew Thomas Christiano; nephew Edward F. A native of Brooklyn, she was the dear sister of Madeleine Schlittenhardt; also survived by nieces and nephews.
