Dear Editor:

I have just about reached the end of my patience level with the unbearable situation of train activity in the Middle Village area near 69th Lane. We are constantly being bombarded with loud and excessive idling of several diesel locomotives, stinking open train cars and diesel fumes. There is activity at all hours of the day that is punctuated by a daily pickup, usually between 6 and 7 a.m., lasting around 20 to 50 minutes.

Calls to Elizabeth Crowley have gone unanswered. At Juniper Park Civic Association meetings, the subject has been brought up many times with her or her staff without any meaningful response. There is absolutely no understanding on their part as to what we endure daily.

Recently, I attended a meeting at St. Margaret’s School and this was brought up to Anthony Weiner. While he made a vague gesture that he was going to check something in two months, nothing ever came of that. Why wait two months? Does he even care?

It seems to me that our daily quality of life has little importance to the people that can improve this situation the most, yet they sit and continue to ignore it and us.
