Fake Cop Wanted
Fake Cop Wanted Police want to hear from anyone who recognizes the man in this photo who is wanted for a series of larcenies at stores around the city during which he posed as a police officer. Law enforcement sources identified him as 36-year-old Bension Mamedov, who is being sought in connection with seven thefts between Oct. 5, 2009 and June 16 of this year. In each case, police said, Mamedov— while wearing an NYPD jacket and a police shield around his neck—grabbed items off the shelves of each store, then brought them to the cashier and stated that he wished to return the items, claiming that he previously purchased them. One of the locations hit was the CVS store located at 118-10 Queens Blvd., which was victimized at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22.
