DEATH NOTICES

DORIS R. SNYDER, 74, passed away peacefully with her family on January 6, 2011 at the Willows in Holmdel, N.J. Doris was born in Brooklyn on November 8, 1936. She lived most of her life in Ridgewood and Glendale. Before retiring she worked for the Home Federal Savings Bank as a customer support and bank representative. In 1997 she moved to Lakeridge, N.J. Doris resided in Holmdel, N.J. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Pauline Yonke and her beloved and devoted husband Robert J. Snyder, Sr. (April 5, 2000). Doris is survived by her loving children, Robert J. Snyder, Jr., and his wife Elysabeth of Hazlet, N.J., Thomas H. Snyder and his wife Lisa of Massapequa Park, N.J., along with her cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Bryan, Kayla, Daniela, Patrick and Thomas Snyder. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends were invited to visit on Thursday, January 20, Friday, January 21 and Saturday, January 22 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral Liturgy in celebration of Doris’ life was offered on Saturday, January 22 at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Homdel, N.J., followed by interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood, N.J.

+++ MARIANNE ROETHEL of Ridgewood died on January 22, 2011 at the age of 64. She was a native of Metzingen, Germany. She was the beloved wife of Herbert Roethel, devoted mother of Gunther Roethel and Gerhard Roethel. She is also survived by five grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Matthias Church followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

+++ DANIEL J. ZINK died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the age of 62. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy. Loving father of Daniel Zink, Krista Sampogna, Andrea Evert and the late Michael Zink. Father-in-law of Jennifer, Thomas and Adam. Cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Daniel, Mikayla, Tristan, Sophia, John, Tyler and Connor. Dear brother of Claudia Manduca and Lorraine Hack. Zink was a United States Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. A mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Adalbert’s Church on Wednesday, January 26, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ ABRAHAM RUGGERO of Maspeth died on January 17, 2011 at the age of 84. He was a native of Riverhead. He was the dear brother of Frances Mule. Edwin Waldvogel followed by cremation in Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

+++ CONCEPCION FELICIANO of Brooklyn died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the age of 87. She was a native of Penuelas, Puerto Rico. She was the devoted mother of Myrna Pastor and Delvis Garcia. She is survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Barbaras R.C. Church followed by interment in Cypress Hills Cemetery under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

+++ DOBRILA GURANOVIC of Basking Ridge, N.J. died on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the age of 65. She was a native of Stubik, Serbia. She was the beloved wife of the late Ljubisa and devoted mother of Vladimir Guranovic. Dear sister of Dragisa Nikolic. She is survived by two grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial was offered at Our Lady of Hope Church on Tuesday, January 25 followed by interment at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ STELLA FASZCZEWSKI died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Roman. Loving mother of Christine Cinquemani, Irene Meyer and Cookie Colfin. Cherished grandmother of Joshua. A mass of Christian burial was offered at Transfiguration Church on Monday, January 24 followed by interment at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ VIRGINIA BONSIGNORE died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the age of 92. She was the loving sister of Mary Bongsignore and the late Anthony, Ignazio and Frank. She was also a cherished aunt. +++ ANTHONY J. TROPIANO died on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Anna. Loving father of Daniel Tropiano, Connie Veneziano, Chris Tropiano and Joseph Tropiano and father-in-law of Arlene, Louise, Lygda. Cherished grandfather of Chris, Jimmy, Jason, Danny, Medline, Tony and Danielle and greatgrandfather of Nicholas. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served during World War II. A mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Adalbert’s Church on Friday, January 21, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ ANTONIO PECORELLA of Ridgewood died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the age of 56. He was the beloved husband of the late Lydia Carrrillo. Devoted father of Zulma DeJesus, Ronnie Reres, Devbra Gonzales, Ruben DeJesus, Michael DeJesus and Antonio Pecorella, Jr. He is survived by 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were offered at St. Brigid R.C. Church followed by interment in Linden Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village.

+++ HILDEGARD PETSCHE (nee Brautigam) of Glendale died on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the age of 79. She was a native of Germany. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernst Petsche. Devoted mother of Gabriele and Diane Petsche. She is survived by two grandchildren. Services were offered at George Werst Funeral Home followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Avenue, Glendale.

+++ STANISLAVA (TESSIE) STAHL of Ridgewood died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the age of 94. She was the beloved mother of Frederick, Diane and Warren. She is survived by four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Services were conducted by family friend Rev. Paul Nordeen, interment followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Ave., Glendale.

Nelson McAvoy, a retired NASA scientist and founder of the Potomac Highlands Soccer Club, died Feb. 2 at his home in Keyser, W.Va. He was 80 and had esophageal cancer. Mr. McAvoy, a youth soccer coach for more than 40 years, moved to Keyser in 1981. He, along with his wife, Susan Barse, established the Potomac Highlands Soccer Club in 1994, introducing soccer to the community. This gave hundreds of boys and girls from Mineral, Grant, Hampshire and Hardy counties the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport from a true professional.
