+++ KLARA ERKER passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, at the age of 79 in San Diego, Calif. She was born on October 28, 1931 in Gottschee, Austria to her parents, John and Maria Wittreich. She married Joseph in Ridgewood on February 16, 1957. They had two children. She was a resident of San Diego for 21 years and a resident of Middle Village for almost 40 years. She provided guidance and inspiration for her family and friends, enjoyed caring for people, gardening and dogs. Klara will be remembered by her loving husband, Joseph, and their children Robert and Ingrid, and son-in-law Peter Rubenacker. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eric and Kurt Rubenacker. Services were held in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego at www.helpsdkids.org.

+++ HEINRICH KREUZER of Glendale died onWednesday, February 3, at the age of 92. A native of Germany, he was the beloved husband of Irmgard Kreuzer, devoted father of Roswitha and father-in-law of Henry Wolf, loving grandfather of Annemarie and Patrick Burke, cherished great-grandfather of Kaylee and dear brother of Paul. A Mass of Christian burial was offered at Sacred Heart Church, Glendale, followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale.

+++ EVANTHIA MARTAKIS of Fort Myers, Fla. died on Monday, January 24, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of Eleftherios, loving mother of Nicholas and Michael Martakis, mother-in-law of Donna and Mindy, cherished grandmother of Nicholas Jr., Jenna, Jason, Brittany and Shana and dear sister of Harry Amantos and the late Mary and Stasia. A Divine Liturgy was offered at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, February 4, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

+++ MARY B. MCGRATH (nee DONNELLY) died on Wednesday, February 2, at the age of 74. A former resident of Clonelly, County Longford, Ireland, she was the beloved wife of Anthony, loving mother of Mary LeBourhis, mother-in-law of Frankie, cherished grandmother of Taylor and Michael, and dear sister of John Donnelly and Angela Jacob. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. +++ JOHN JOSEPHIDES died on Monday, January 31, at the age of 84. He was the husband of the late Theodora, loving father of Amelia Monis and Mary Flouras, father-in-law of Argyrios and Lambros, cherished grandfather of Maria, Theodora, Eleftherios, Constantinos, Despina and Ioannis and great-grandfather of Katie, Melina, Costa, Penelope, Yianni, Anastasia and Lambros. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. A Divine Liturgy was offered at SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, February 4, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth. +++ FRANK “SONNY” DETURRIS died on Sunday, February 6, at the age of 67. A U.S. Army veteran, he was the loving father of Toni Ann and Anthony, cherished grandfather of Megan, Catlin, Joseph, Dakota and Jaden, dear brother of Catherine Oelkers, Frances Esposito, Antoinette DiPreta and John DeTurris. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. +++ LIESELOTTE JURAN of Bellport died on Saturday, January 29, at the age of 85. A native of Osterode, East Prussia, she was the beloved wife of August, devoted mother of Werner and dear mother-in-law of Jane. Services were offered by Rev. Michael Ross at Peter J. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, he was the husband of the late Monica and devoted father of Kelvin, Cynthia and Kenrick Gerold. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
