DEATH NOTICES

JAMES MICHAEL MURTHA of Glendale died on Tuesday, March 1, at the age of 86. A life-long resident of Liberty Park, he was the husband of the late Jeanne Murtha for 55 years, cherished father of James and Patricia Murtha, Jeanne and Kenneth Fink, Pamela and Tom Menendez, Christopher and Kerry Murtha, Mari and Stephen Caputo, Therese and Jeffrey Siegel and Angela and Dominic D’Annunzio. He was also the devoted grandfather of Daniel and Timothy Murtha; Jason, Jennifer, Danielle and Meghan Fink; Anthony and Aurora Menendez; Philip and David Murtha; Liam Caputo; Micah and Kierah Siegel and Dominic and Emily D’Annunzio. The founder and leader of the Glendale Boys Club, he was also a decorated combat veteran of the Eighth Air Force during World War II, a football player and coach, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, lay leader of CYO, the Holy Name Society, Parish Council and Ushers Society of St. Pancras Church and distinguished professional of the United States Civil Service Commission. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 5, at St. Pancras Church, Glendale, followed by interment at All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, under the direction of Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Ave., Glendale.

+++ JAMES C. MCGOWAN died on Friday, March 4, at the age of 80. A veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean Conflict, he was the dear friend of Michael P. Murphy. A private cremation was held on Monday, March 7, at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, March 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Woodside, followed by interment of cremated remains at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I., under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

+++ REINHOLD PETSCHE of Ridgewood died on Thursday, March 3, at the age of 65. Anative of Klagenfurt, Austria, he was the beloved husband of Brigitte (nee Loser), devoted father of Andrea Bopp, Karin Carr and Ronald Petsche, dear father-in-law of Lily Petsche, loving son of Anni Petsche, loving son-in-law of Anna Loser, Kevin Bopp and Thomas Carr and dear brother of Erna Maichin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. AMass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Ridgewood, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale.

+++ INA C. STARK died on Monday, February 28, at the age of 88. She was the wife of the late Richard, devoted mother of Sue Cron and Lynne Stark, loving grandmother of Debbie Kanzler, Laura Miceli and Jackie Cron and dear sister of Kenneth Doscher. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters. Services were offered at Trinity-St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Maspeth, followed by interment at Cypress Hills Cemetery, under the direction of Hess- Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village.

+++ PHILOMENA COMBADER died on Monday, February 28, at the age of 92. She was the wife of the late Angelo, loving mother of Marilyn Duemig and cherished grandmother of Lynne Gorski. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Thursday, March 3, at St. Stanislaus Church, Maspeth, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

+++ ELISA GUERRA of Long Island City died on Saturday, March 5, at the age of 83. A native of the Dominican Republic, she was the beloved wife of Casiano Guerra and devoted mother of Joe Guerra. Services were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village.

+++ ANA CRUZ ENCARNACION of Pleasantville, N.Y., died on Thursday, March 3, at the age of 80. A native of Vieques, Puerto Rico, she was the devoted mother of Ana C. DeJesus. Services were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village.

+++ ALPHONSE MAURICI of Brooklyn died on Monday, February 28, at the age of 97. A native of Brooklyn, he was the devoted father of John and Paul Maurici. Services were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, followed by interment at All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village.
