Maspeth St. Gets A Sinking Feeling
Drivers were detoured around 69th Lane in Maspeth last Thursday, Mar. 17, after a large sinkhole formed in the middle of the roadway between Grand and 54th avenues, Fire Department sources said. Members of Ladder Co. 136 and Battalion 46 along with the 104th Precinct kept the road closed while waiting for the city Department of Environmental Protection to respond and make the necessary repairs. One vehicle which drove down the roadway earlier got caught in the sinkhole and suffered damage, FDNY sources said.
