He’s Attacked At Corner

R’Wood Man Busted For Bloody Beating
by Robert Pozarycki

As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives collared a Ridgewood man last Wednesday, Oct. 26, for his alleged role in the recent beating and stabbing of a 32-year-old man at a neighborhood intersection, it was reported.

Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Justo J. Cruz of Charlotte Street.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the beating occurred at around 7:10 p.m. on the evening of Oct. 6 at the corner of Linden Street and Fairview Avenue.

Reportedly, Cruz and two other unapprehended suspects approached the 32-year-old male victim and began punching him about the face and body, causing the man to fall to the ground.

Law enforcement sources said the three individuals allegedly continued their assault after the victim fell. At some point during the beatdown, prosecutors said, the 32-year-old man sustained a puncture wound from an unknown object.

Seconds later, Cruz and the suspects allegedly fled from the scene.

Members of the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the location. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received several staples to close the puncture wound and numerous stitches to close a laceration on his head.

Following an investigation by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad, Gusto was taken into custody last Wednesday and charged with seconddegree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The suspect was arraigned last Thursday, Oct. 27, in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Joseph Zayas and released on $5,000 bail, according to court records.

Gusto is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 1.
