Cosmos Play Thanksgiving Tourneys
U9B Squad Finishes 2nd; U10A Heads To Jersey
The U9B team played in the Thanksgiving Tournament at the Coleman Cup Kickoff. They played in the U10 division and ended in second place playing against the Kosmos U10, with the score being 4-1.
The U10Aboys had mixed results this weekend in a Thanksgiving 7v7 indoor tournament hosted by NJ Barcelona in Montclair, N.J.
Playing against tough competition against some of the top U10 teams in the tri-state area, the boys won 6-0 against Quicksilver (N.J.), tied the NJSA 3-3 and lost to Jamestown (Del.) 4-1.
The boys started out strong against Quicksilver with two quick goals by Jeremy Saravia and Matthew Rubinstein, who were both assisted by Jason Lee.
Lee then scored his own goal from Saravia’s assist, after which Ramo Lukovic, Sal D’Angelo and Matthew Osiecki tallied their own goals.
The boys went down three goals early against a very strong Jamestown team. Although they dominated play for the balance of the game, they were unable to climb out of the early deficit. Lukovic was the lone goal scorer.
In their final game against NJSA, the boys again fell behind 2-0 and then 3-1, but played strong from behind. They added two late goals to earn a tie, which would have been a win were it not for a couple of unlucky shots that hit the post and the crossbar as time expired.
Rubinstein scored three goals for BWG.
The U17 developmental team played during the Thanksgiving weekend at PDA College Showcase in New Jersey.
In the first game the BWG Cosmos won 4-0 against Ramapo Valley, with goals scored by Sebastian Morales, Shawn Bonilla and Byron Tenezaca (2).
In the second game, the team lost to Montgomery United 3-1, with BWG’s lone goal scored by Kevin Diaz. Santhy Montafur missed a penalty and Tenezaca hit the upper post.
In the last game of the tournament, TSF Academy won 3-0.
