Man Shot In Ridgewood Street Beef
Words exchanged between two men who bumped into each other on a Ridgewood street early last Saturday morning, June 9, reportedly sparked a shooting that left one of the combatants with a gunshot wound to his back.
Police said the injured 22-year old man was hospitalized in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.
His opponent in the dispute who fired the shot remains large as of press time, law enforcement sources said. The suspect is described by the NYPD as a caucasian male between 20 and 25 years of age standing at 5’9”-tall.
Reportedly, the trouble began at around 2:25 a.m. last Saturday in the vicinity of Myrtle and Seneca avenues.
According to information ob- tained by police, the 22-year-old male victim was walking with his friend along Seneca Avenue when he bumped shoulders with the suspected shooter.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect and the 22-year-old man exchanged words with one another. After the shooter walked across the street, it was reported, the victim allegedly challenged the shooter to a fight.
Police said the suspect then turned around and, with a handgun, fired two shots, one of which struck the 22-year-old man in the back. The perpetrator fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
Members of the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. The injured man was brought by paramedics to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment.
During an investigation, police reportedly recovered a .25-cal. shell from the gun allegedly used by the suspect in the shooting. No immedi- ate arrests were made in the case.
The case has been presented to the 104th Precinct Detective Squad for further investigation, police said.
