Local Students Set For Mayor’s Cup

Public & Private Schools To Square Off In Soccer

The city’s top high school senior boys and girls soccer players from the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) and independent schools will compete for the title ofBest in the City” at the 2013 NYC Mayor’s Cup Soccer All-Star Games Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17, at Poly Prep Country Day School, located at 9216 7th Ave. in Brooklyn.

The girls and boys championship games begin on Sunday at 11a.m. and 1p.m., respectively.

The athletic fields are located one-quarter mile south of the school's main entrance on 92nd Street.

This year’s event will also feature an appearance by New York Red Bulls player Lloyd Sam on Sunday, Nov. 17, as well as demonstrations from the New York Red Bulls Street Team. Both days, the Street Team will perform their freestyle soccer juggling tricks during breaks in the action.

The girls and boys championship games begin on Sunday at 11am and 1pm, respectively.

The 2013–2014 NYC Mayor’s Cup season encompasses a variety of sports events throughout the year and is produced by NYC & Company, the City’s marketing, tourism and partnership organization. The series showcases student athletes of all ages from across the five boroughs as they compete to prove they are New York City’s best at baseball, basketball, chess, cricket, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, table tennis, track & field and wrestling.
